About Me:

Hey, I’m Kelly and I’m so glad you’ve found your way here! This is where you'll get to know me & my personality in order to see if you think we'd be a good fit in working together.

What to expect in therapy with me...

Firstly, I will be my authentic self. This models to my clients that it is not only safe, but valued, to be  themselves in return. I work from both an eclectic and person-centered approach, meaning I view you as the expert of you, and pull from a variety of therapeutic modalities and theories to best suit your individual needs and personality. I do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach simply because people are unique and respond differently to different techniques, thus, I tailor therapy to fit you. In our work, we will explore where problems may stem from, uncover patterns that may be keeping you “stuck,” look for potential “blind spots,” begin to alter self-defeating behaviors, develop effective ways to cope and communicate, and, ultimately, establish your true sense of self. You will gather further insight and self-awareness in order for you to feel more grounded in who you are. My goal is for you to learn to fully embrace who you are so that you find the freedom and fulfillment associated with being unapologetically and wholeheartedly yourself. You only get one life, let's make it "yours!"

 Education & Clinical Background

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia and received my undergraduate degree in Childhood & Family Development from the University of Georgia in 2011. I then moved to California to earn my master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University in 2015. In graduate school, I worked with college students in the university counseling center, offered spiritual counseling when requested, and worked with Alzheimer’s patients & their families in an adult daycare. After graduating and moving back to Georgia, I gained experience working in a variety of treatment settings, including inpatient mental health hospitals, residential and outpatient eating disorder treatment centers, outpatient substance abuse treatment centers, and private practice offices with clients spanning many ages and presenting problems. I have experience working with individuals, couples, & families and truly enjoy my work with each.

Why I do what I do...

Simple. I’ve been through many of the same issues my clients are facing, know how difficult it is to experience, and know it’s possible to get to the other side. I have seen the benefits of therapy both personally and professionally, and believe in its ability to transform lives. Just as you can tell the difference between a teacher who teaches because it’s simply their job versus a teacher who teaches because they are truly passionate about helping their students, you can tell the same difference in therapy. I do this work because I love nothing more than being there with my clients through the tough times and helping them through to the other side. I believe in each client's capacity to thrive and want to help them get there!
